Dutch grower Van Nature has teamed up with healthy eating app Lifesum to offer consumers the chance to come up with a nickname for its new sprout variety.
Winners of the competition will also receive their weight in purple sprouts delivered to their home or place of work in time for Christmas.
Entrants must tweet their submitted name for the new sprout to @Lifesum, email or apply through the website.
The purple sprout, which has been developed over the past two years, has a sweetier, milder taste than traditional varieties.
The competition, which is only open to UK residents, ends on December 22 with the winner announced on Christmas Day.
Entries will be judged by Lifesum and Van Nature team. Van Nature is one of the biggest exporters of Brussels sprouts to the UK.
