UK yoghurt giant Yeo Valley has spoken of its difficulties in trying to find organic fruit for its products.

The firm has launched a nationwide “fruit quest” to find Britain’s organic fruit growers.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Yeo Valley, based in the West Country, has had to source many fruits from overseas.

The company's marketing director, Dan Rusga, said: “We’d love to find organic apples, quince, damsons, pears and gooseberries here. We've been very successful on the organic milk front, but it's been a real struggle to find the fruit for our yogurts.

'It's been an ongoing source of frustration that we haven't been able to find British organic fruit. We've been putting the feelers out for the past two or three years but recently, we reached an impasse.'

He added:'It's crazy that we can't find organic British Bramley apples.'

Yeo Valley is calling on farmers growing up to one tonne of organic fruit to come forward. The fruits will be incorporated into new and limited edition recipes.
