Branston bike ride

Branston has raised more than £22,000 for charity with a 100-mile cycle ride through wind and rain in the Lincolnshire Wolds.

A team of more than 30 cyclists, including Branston staff, suppliers and customers, took to the tarmac to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, Lincolnshire Integrated Voluntary Emergency Service (LIVES), the Air Ambulance and children’s charity Brainwave.

The 100-mile ride began at the Branston site in Lincolnshire, and saw riders battle through wind and torrential rain to complete the tough challenge.

Branston managing director James Truscott said: “We are so pleased to have smashed our £10,000 target for our Lincolnshire charity of the year, LIVES and raise huge sums for our chosen charities at the Scotland and South West sites.

“This is the second year that we have been running our ‘Branston Century’ charity bike ride and the number of participants has more than doubled this year, which is fantastic.

“I’m so proud of everyone that took part in the challenge and a massive thank you goes to those who helped organise the event and our generous family, friends, colleagues and customers who donated to such worthwhile causes.”

Nikki Silver, chief executive at LIVES added: “Every year we have to raise over £1 million to keep our responders on the road, so we are thrilled that Branston has raised such a great total. We hosted them at their first stop on Saturday morning and they were looking very bedraggled but were in greatspirits, so it’s brilliant to hear they finished!”
