Amy Lance has joined Berry Gardens in the new role of head of new business development.
Lance moves from home delivery outfit Hello Fresh, where she was head of quality and technical. She also recently spent time acting as a consultant to the Food Foundation.
Starting her career as a technologist in produce at Tesco, Lance moved to Waitrose to become technical manager and then a buyer.
The University of Southampton science graduate, who also had a stint studying post-harvest technology at the University of California, Davis, left Waitrose after five years in 2016 to take a year sabbatical farming in California, Senegal and South Africa.
Of her new role at Berry Gardens, she said: 'It’s an exciting time to be joining Berry Gardens with its ambitious growth plans, and I am very much looking forward to developing new and interesting channels and markets.
'I will be spending the next few weeks meeting as many growers as possible during this very busy period to develop my understanding of the business first hand.”
