Asian retail giant Dairy Farm International has seen an increase in sales and profits from its businesses in Malaysia and Indonesia, while its operations in Singapore have chartered steady growth since the start of the year.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the company reported healthy sales in the period from 1 January to 10 May.

“The stronger Asian currencies also enhanced sales and earnings in US dollar terms,” the company reported.

The company’s Hong Kong operations performed well, the statement said, while steady progress was achieved in its businesses in mainland China.

Total sales last year for the group exceeded US$9bn.
