Florida’s strawberry farmers fear their larger-than-expected harvest will make turning a profit difficult.
A warm winter has yielded a bumper crop of berries.
Ted Campbell, executive director of Florida Strawberry Growers’ Association, said: “We complained when it was too cold, and now we’re complaining this year that it’s too hot. It’s a very challeng- ing year.”
On 2 March, strawberry prices were down eight per cent on the previous week.
