Flamingo replaces UK md John Hackett

Flamingo UK managing director John Hackett has left the company, it has emerged this week.

Hackett was dismissed on 28 January following an internal investigation at the flower and vegetable supplier.

David Brown, md of Flamingo Flowers, has taken over responsibility for the company’s UK flower business. Ian Michell, general manager of Flamingo UK, has taken full control of the day-to-day leadership of its fresh produce business.

Flamingo Holdings ceo Martin Hudson said: “Following an internal review of the company’s policies and practices regarding governance and controls, John Hackett has left Flamingo UK with immediate effect.

“Flamingo management have taken steps to ensure that the highest levels of service for both our customers and suppliers are maintained without interruption.

“We would like to take this opportunity to reiterate the company’s commitment to the highest standards of customer service and ethical business practice.”

There are no further changes in management in any of the company’s non-UK businesses, which in all respects continue to operate as normal.

Hackett could not be reached for comment.

Flamingo Holdings provides 600 million flower stems each year to the high street in the UK, over half of which are grown on their own farms in Africa.
