Italian clementine production is set for a 17 per cent drop to 360,000 tonnes this season, according to agricultural organisation Coldiretti.

The production of clementines, half of which is located in Regio Calabria, makes up 10 per cent of Italian citrus production.

The clementines produced in the plain of Sibari in Calabria and in the gulf of Taranto in Puglia have received the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) hallmark.

The season stretches from October to February
