An unnamed Midlands man has been arrested for breaking labour laws while supplying workers to the herb trade.

A 45-year-old man from the Wolverhampton area was arrested on 24 September in relation to a Gangmasters’ Licensing Authority investigation into the unlicensed supply of workers in the herb industry. He was later released on bail until 30 November.

The arrest followed a joint operation between the Gangmasters Licensing Authority West Midlands Police, Gloucester Police and UK Border Agency and is now the second arrest to be made in relation to this investigation.

The unlicensed supply of labour is a criminal offence under section 12 of the Gangmasters (Licensing) Act 2004, and the use of an unlicensed gangmaster is a criminal offence under section 13 of the Act.
