Medjool dates make early appearance

Israeli Carmel Medjool dates have come onto the market early this year, and as a result Agrexco has received orders to export 10 per cent more volume of the product than last year.

Picking started the first week of August and first shipments will reach customers shortly.

Agrexco product manager Ofri Dimentman reports that the expected export volume stands at 1,800 tonnes and believes this is due to a notable quantity of Medjool dates.

Agrexco is also getting ready to double the number of its Medjool date and walnut packs in the markplace, after a successful launch last Christmas into large retail chains.

Agrexco’s diversified line of date varieties and date growers enables the company to provide dates year round, including the period of Ramadan when demand for the fruit is high.
