Morrisons came out on top at the 2011 Retail Industry Awards for its fresh produce offer.

The UK’s number-four supermarket was named the Dole Fresh UK Retailer of the Year at the prestigious ceremony in London last week.

Sainsbury’s and Nisa were among the other big name winners on the night, taking victory in the Supermarket of the Year and Symbol Group of the Year categories respectively.

Hegarty’s SuperValu in County Tyrone was named the Independent Fresh Produce Retailer of the year ahead of Eurospar in Hatfield, County Londonderry, which was highly commended in the same category.

Budgens was named the Company-owned Fresh Produce Retailer of the Year.

Poundland scooped Discount Retailer of the Year, while Bestway won the Outstanding Achievement award.
