Morrisons rallies round for breast cancer

Every Morrisons store across the UK donated £1 into a Breast Cancer Campaign collection bucket this week to take the total raised for Morrisons’ charity of the year to £1 million.

Staff nominated customers or colleagues who have been personally affected by cancer, or who have been instrumental in fundraising, to represent their store in the company-wide mass donation.

Celebrities including Amir Khan and Rosemary Conley also lent support at their local stores.

Morrisons stopped banking donations once a total of GBP 999,625 was reached. Then, at 12pm on Monday, a representative from each and every store across the UK simultaneously deposited £1 into a collection bucket resulting in all 375 Morrisons stores playing their part in hitting the incredible £1 million total.

Pamela Goldberg, chief executive of Breast Cancer Campaign, said: “This breathtaking amount of money will play a vital part in helping BCC to continue researching the cure for breast cancer.

“This has been a record-breaking initiative with more funds raised than any other charity of the year partnership. I cannot thank Morrisons staff and customers enough for their hard work and generosity.”

For the last 15 years Morrisons has annually appointed a registered charity to be the focus of fundraising activity, this year staff voted overwhelmingly to support Breast Cancer Campaign.
