Timothy Hornsby and George Loudon have been appointed as Trustees to the Board of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

Hornsby is a former senior civil servant, who has held a number of posts at Director level, in areas including Ancient Monuments and Historic Buildings and Historic Royal Palaces and Parks

Loudon has more than twenty years experience in banking at senior and board level. He is a patron of the Natural History Museum and of the arts in general.

The appointments are unpaid and will run until September 30 2010. Hornsby holds other ministerial appointments as the Chair of the Horniman Museum and Gardens, as a Commissioner for the National Lottery Commission, as a Trustee of the International Institute for Environment and Development and as an independent member for the Consumer Council for Water. Loudon holds no ministerial appointments.
