The Soil Association’s next Organic Market Report is to be launched on Monday 12 April at Natural and Organic Products Europe, taking place at Olympia, London.

In a first for the show - the UK’s only dedicated trade event for natural and organic products - the Soil Association’s policy director, Peter Melchett, will present the trends from 2009 and cover motivations and attitudes of a post-recession consumer. The 90-minute session will be held from 11.30am in the show’s Keynote Theatre.

Recognised as the definitive report on the state of the UK’s organic market, the choice of launch venue serves to highlight the growing stature of the show within the organic industry itself.

Natural & Organic Products Europe’s event director, Simon Barry, said: “This is a key document and media event, which sets the scene for the future progress of the organic market. It creates a great opportunity for natural and organic professionals to hear firsthand the latest market insights, data and trends for the year ahead.”

Show organiser Diversified Business Communications UK Ltd has also announced that Food Inc.is to get a special trade-only screening at this year’s show. Co-produced by Fast Food Nation author Eric Schlosser, Food Inc. shines an unflattering light on America’s food supply chain.

In total, more than 500 companies are expected to take part in Natural & Organic Products Europe 2010, including the Organic Trade Board, which will be taking a stand for the first year since it formed as the voice of the organic industry in July 2007. The show annually attracts trade buyers from across the world in their thousands, and more than 8,000 attendees walked the aisles of Olympia last year alone.
