Fruit from prepared produce firm PrepWorld will reach local care homes and families in need thanks to a weekend of volunteering from a local community project.
Volunteers from the Ashford Vineyard Church and the surrounding community will prepare 2,500 bespoke apple, grape and pear fruit pots at PrepWorld Southfleet on Friday 21 October, as part of their Thousand Hours project.
The project sees volunteers donate a thousand hours to the community throughout October, through activities including painting classrooms at a primary school and helping at a retirement home.
The Fruit Pot activity was established when the National Fruit Show offered to donate apples and pears to the Thousand Hours project. PrepWorld head of technical Heather Hayward and her team offered to donate production time and grapes to the project, while Proprint Packaging and the Lime Design Studio donated bespoke packaging for the one-off production run.
