The awards marked the introduction of the first International Apéritif Day, which took place in 17 cities worldwide. Throughout April and May 120 establishments in the London region were reviewed ranging from haute cuisine restaurants and hotels through to gastro pubs, specialist bars and high street brasseries.

One of the event’s sponsors was Britanny-based fresh vegetables brand Prince de Bretagne. The company sees the Apéritif à la française Awards as an ideal opportunity to build awareness of the Prince de Bretagne brand. Pierre Gélébart, product manager at the company said: “This event provides an opportunity to promote our vegetables. We want to encourage new ways of enjoying vegetables, and vegetables such as carrots, tomatoes and cauliflowers can be enjoyed as a snack with dips and an Apértif.”

The awards saw Cellar Gascon capture the crown of Best Apéritif bar, Thyme picked up the title of Best Apéritif restaurant and Silvano Giraldin of Le Gavroche pick up the award for Outstanding Contribution to the Apértif experience.
