Dutch producers Rainbow Growers had a record year in 2008, as its sister company Rainbow International took its first steps into the market.
The new company imports salad products to complement Rainbow Growers’ home-grown offer, as well as exotic fruits and soft fruit.
Rainbow Growers also grew an extra 26 hectares of salad produce in the Netherlands in 2008 and its line of green bell peppers have seen an early harvest this year due to the company growing the crop under lights for the first time. Some five weeks’ early, the peppers have served to expand the Dutch season this year.
