UK food assurance marque Red Tractor has renewed its affiliation with international farm certification scheme GlobalGap for fresh fruit and vegetables, so that Red Tractor fresh produce membership includes automatic access to GlobalGAP certification.

Holding a GlobalGAP certificate unlocks global market opportunities, and hundreds of Red Tractor fresh produce scheme members already take advantage of this major benefit – in place for the last three years, the Red Tractor organisation said.

“This refreshed benchmarking has secured one of the many important benefits to being a Red Tractor assured,' said Jim Moseley, Red Tractor chief executive. 'It affords producers the attractive option of a simplified route to the global marketplace for fresh produce, without the need for additional assessments to gain the necessary certification for export.”

Red Tractor fresh produce members can also use this benchmarking to access certain GlobalGAP modular add-ons, which some customers may require, he added.

Red Tractor was established in 2000 to reassure consumers that food and drink bearing its logo was safe and responsibly produced. Now the Red Tractor logo is synonymous with trust.

Research conducted by YouGov has found that Red Tractor is the UK’s most-trusted food assurance scheme, with around three-quarters of shoppers who are aware of the organisation citing it as an independent source they can trust.
