Re:fresh in-store

Waitrose stores have introduced point of sale material into their fresh produce aisles, letting shoppers know that Waitrose has been awarded the accolade. The Re:fresh logo features prominently.

"Both Waitrose customers and partners know that we have a fantastic assortment of fresh fruit and vegetables. It's rewarding to have our excellent work recognised by industry experts," said Waitrose John Foley, head of buying fruit, vegetables and horticulture.

The Re:fresh awards are organised by Fresh Produce Journal and Highbury Nexus, in conjunction with the Fresh Produce Consortium. FPC chief executive Nigel Jenney said: "As part of the partnership, we are absolutely delighted that the industry has supported the Re:fresh concept and that it is being actively supported in-store by a multiple retailer."

FPJ’s Tommy Leighton added: "Interest in and support for both the Re:fresh conference and awards exceeded all expectations this year. The pride that Waitrose and other category winners have shown in receiving their awards illustrates that an event of this kind was long overdue. We believe Re:fresh will have a place in the fresh produce calendar for years to come."
