Roots and tuber crops go down under

The first international symposium on root and tuber crops “Food Down Under” is to be held on February 9-12 in New Zealand.

Organised by the New Zealand Institute of Crop and Food research and convened under the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS), the symposium covers an overview of world potato, carrot and sweet potato production, potato growth modelling and computer-assisted production, technology developments and spray application.

Pests and diseases, integrated pest management and sustainability will be debated as will novel root crops, biotechnology and the health benefits of roots and tubers.
