Event sees special focus on the foodservice sector as it highlights the role of Spanish food in the UK
The annual Spain Food Nation Summit is returning on 25 June to celebrate and enhance the trading relationship between Spain and the UK.
The event takes place at central London venue The View and features a series of presentations and roundtable discussions aimed at strengthening relationships and boosting routes to market for Spanish food exporters to the UK.
Following successful discussions around food and wine at previous editions of the event, this year two Advisory Councils will focus on restaurants, beverages and cocktails.
The first Advisory Council will be made up of prominent chefs and restaurateurs from the Restaurants from Spain certification programme, which supports initiatives from around the world in focusing on authentic cuisine and produce from the Mediterranean country. Discussions will centre around the role of quality Spanish restaurants in introducing Spanish products into the UK, with a particular focus on the foodservice sector as a route to market for producers.
The second Advisory Council focuses on beverages and cocktails and will again feature industry leaders offering expert advice within these important categories.
Summaries and recommendations from the two Advisory Councils will be presented at the Spain Food Nation Summit. To follow these presentations, two roundtable discussions featuring members of the councils will also see the expert speakers share their perspectives on how the relationship between the UK and Spain can be strengthened in their respective sectors, as well as how the UK market could look as Spain’s presence grows.
The event is run by promotional body Foods and Wines from Spain as a joint initiative in partnership with ICEX Spain Trade and Investment and the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
Fernando Muñoz, director of Foods and Wines from Spain, said: “Following excellent engagement and feedback from our first two events, we are looking forward to expanding the focus this year and exploring in even greater depth the opportunities for British consumers to enjoy high-quality Spanish food and drink.”
Following the event, the first edition of Taste Spain London will take place in the adjacent room. This exhibition of producers provides a unique opportunity to explore the latest trends in Spanish gourmet food and meet more than 20 Spanish exhibitors looking to enter or expand their distribution to the UK.
A wide range of products will be featured, from premium olive oils and artisan cheeses to truffle-based products, cured meats, cocktail ingredients and other regional delicacies.
Registration for the event is now open here.
