Traders and customers of New Covent Garden Market can get one year’s free membership and £60 driving credit with Zipcar thanks to a new partnership.
The new agreement between the market and the self-styled car share 'club' is designed to help companies who need a bigger boot or extra vehicle for a big job, a statement said, and also helps to cut emissions around the market through shared car use.
As well as the credit, companies can add unlimited drivers to the account for the first 30 days, while Zipcar has also located a new van less than 100m from the market.
Helen Evans, business development director for Covent Garden Market Authority, said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Zipcar on this initiative that will help support both our customers and traders.
“The partnership allows those using the market to deliver and collect big orders with ease, and with the high volume of Zipcars across the capital we are sure to see our London-centric businesses making great use of the vehicles.”
Zipcar has 1,700 cars and vans on streets across London to hire by the hour, day or week on a pay-as-you-go scheme.
