US horticultural exports are forecast to increase 8.2 per cent to $11.4bn in 2001. According to the USDA, those in April alone rose 10 per cent to $900m, within which fresh fruit and tree nut sendings jumped 19 per cent each to $155m and $69m, respectively. While volumes to Canada, the prime destination, increased by three per cent, those to the EU rose 28 per cent to $166m and to Mexico by five per cent to $63m. However, China witnessed the biggest gain in April at 110 per cent to $15m.
