Spanish growers have collected 45,000 signatures on a petition to against the reformed text of the Castilla-La Mancha regional statute.

The revised statute, approved by the parliament of Castilla-La Mancha, includes an end date of 2015 for the Tajo-Segura water transfers, which currently supply Murcia’s farmers with much-needed irrigation water.

Government representatives recently gave a guarantee that the text would be amended to bring it in line with the Spanish Constitution and with the interests of all areas of Spain.
