AgroFresh Solutions’ digital platform optimises quality, sustainability and profit potential across the value chain
AgroFresh Solutions – a global leader in post-harvest quality and freshness solutions – has expanded its Asia-Pacific presence to capture increasing interest in FreshCloud.
FreshCloud is the company’s integrated digital platform that works with existing technologies to make real-time data accessible and actionable from multiple devices including phone, laptop or tablet.
Created by produce professionals with more than 40 years of global experience, FreshCloud allows users to capture, analyse and make decisions based on each piece of produce from harvest to storage for a stronger bottom line.
Since the launch in 2019, the FreshCloud digital ecosystem, which has the functionality to span pre- and post-harvest activity, has evolved significantly in response to customer demands specifically for tracking and reporting on the quality of produce as it journeys to market.
“Part of the FreshCloud advantage is our integrated solutions digital ecosystem,” says regional data and digital sales and, product lead, Royce Sharplin.
“We’ve collaborated with the best digital partners from around the world to automate, consolidate and report on quality along the value chain, capturing the entire journey of a piece of produce from harvest to market.”
“Our partners’ specialist platforms complement the functionality of our core digital platform, FreshCloud, to offer bespoke solutions. It’s a business model that thrives on collaboration and connectivity to address customers’ challenges.”
Head of digital product and customer success, Ethan Meyers says a significant number of FreshCloud feature enhancements are made in direct response to customer needs.
“Partner data models can ultimately improve produce quality because they offer real-time data across the value chain,” Meyers explains.
“One example is storage practices. If you’re able to quickly access information that shows produce ethylene levels and respiration rates, as well as storage room condition insights, you can make more informed decisions to improve pack-out and quality and reduce waste,” he adds.
“The digital ecosystem is meant to be connected, whether that’s to the customer’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, or as a hub that pulls in data from multiple sources. Once a customer’s current quality process is captured and saved to the cloud, they can leverage that data, run data science models against it, learn from it, and ultimately make informed decisions. Leveraging data meaningfully to improve processes, optimise management and reduce waste is at the core of what FreshCloud does.”
The first large-scale commercial adopter of FreshCloud was leading fruit producer and exporter Montague Farms Australia. In 2020, it sought to have FreshCloud envelop its entire quality management process with automation.
FreshCloud is available globally, enabling valuable data insights across the supply chain for a wide range of crops, including apples, berries, citrus, grapes and avocados. The subscription-based platform is user-friendly and requires minimal training.
