The global airfreight forwarding market is on track for steady annual growth over the next four years, according to new research published this week.

The report, Global Airfreight Forwarding Market 2015-2019, by US-based Market Research Reports (MRR) forecasts sector growth at a compound annual rate of 3.58 per cent by volume over the four-year period.

The 75-page study, which MRR says was compiled using in-depth market analysis with input from industry experts, attributes the forecast growth to forwarders’ competitive pricing and customer-focused services.

“Having a long-term contract with major airlines along with providing consolidation services enables airfreight forwarders to secure cheaper freight rates,” MRR said in a press release.“They are increasingly offering integrated solutions, facilitating end-to-end cargo delivery processes, enabling exporters to focus on their core competencies. Customised solutions are being developed for customers from various industries.”

MRR defines airfreight forwarders as intermediary agents that arrange shipments for industries from the manufacturer to the final point of distribution.

'They are usually associated with the movement of light, expensive, and perishable cargo that needs quick transportation. They act as supply chain experts and their services range from packaging and labeling, documentation and PO management, charter services, transportation, warehousing, to value-added services,' MRR said.
