Swiss airfreight forwarder Panalpina this week promoted its transatlantic/UK-EU services as an alternative to seafreight in the event of a ‘no-deal’ Brexit, reports Air Cargo World.

Panalpina said that by offering capacity for “any airworthy merchandise from the Americas directly into London”, as well as that from the UK to Luxembourg, it can help affected shippers by “flying over the channel and avoiding coastal borders which will most likely represent the major bottlenecks for UK-EU trade”.

With the 29 March Brexit deadline looming, several aircargo carriers are preparing for a boost in demand for capacity on their EU-UK routes, according to Air Cargo World, saying that shippers who regularly use ocean freight may turn to airfreight to avoid bottlenecks at sea ports, in light of the possibility of a no-deal Brexit.
