In the US, the current scare over contaminated peanut butter has now affected Ready
Pac, with the group announcing the voluntary product recall of some of its fresh-cut produce.

Products included in the group's recall include Ready PacCool CutsCelery with Peanut Butter, Trader Joe's Celery with Peanut Butter andEating Right Apples with Peanut Butter.

The recall is part of a nationwide move initiated by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) after reported cases of Salmonella infection in 43 states across the US. Nearly 500 people have been taken ill with 6 deaths also related to the scare, according to the Associated Press.

'We urge consumers to postpone eating any products that may containpeanut butter until additional information becomes available,' said DrStephen Sundlof of the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Centre for FoodSafety.

According to reports in the US, the FDA has traced the outbreak to a peanut plant owned by the PCA in Georgia.
