Dole Challenge

US fresh produce giant Dole's latest campaign to encourage the consumption of fruit has kicked off this month, with a number of different non-profit organisations set to benefit from sales.

The promotion involves consumers either submitting by email address at www.DoleChallenge.com a tip on how and where to enjoy Dole Fruit Bowls, or sending an e-card to family and friends inviting them to participate in the same challenge.

The consumer whose tip is chosen will receive a US$300 cash prize, and has the option of choosing one of five participating non-profit groups – including the Produce For Better Health Foundation (PBH) – to donate 1,000 Dole Fruit Bowls to. This aspect of the promotion will provide a total of eight weekly winners, and ends on 2 October.

Meanwhile, the consumer that refers the most family and friends to the challenge wins the top prize of US$1,000, and can also choose which non-profit organisation picks up US$1,000.

'PBH is happy to be involved in the Dole Bowl-A-Day Challenge,' said Elizabeth Pivonka, president and CEO at the Produce for Better Health Foundation. 'This contest is a fun way to compile good tips to help make it easier for people to increase their fruit consumption and benefit their favourite non-profit organisation at the same time.'
