Mexican port

Chilean container operators CCNI and CSAV, as well as German shipper Hamburg Süd, will reportedly moved their routes from the Mexican Pacific port of Manzanillo to the rival port of Lázaro Cárdenas from the start of August.

In a statement from CSAV to its clients, the Chilean company confirmed its plan to move all its Mexican operations to Lázaro Cárdenas, while CCNI and Hamburg Süd both announced changes to their itineraries.

The switch from Manzanillo follows the opening of a second berth at Hutchison Port Holdings’ new terminal at Lázaro Cárdenas, according to Lloyd’s List.

A report in Mundo Maritimo claimed that the move was likely to reduce the shippers’ time in port because of restrictions on space at Manzanillo.
