Florida citrus

The US Department of Agriculture has once again revised downwards the Florida orange crop forecast, cutting it by 1m boxes to leave it at 102m boxes.

According to the USDA, the reduction came entirely in the harvest of early and mid-season varieties, dropping to 47m boxes, including 1.4m boxes on Navel oranges.

The grapefruit crop held steady at 15m boxes, tangerines have fallen 11 per cent cent since the October forecast to 2.5m boxes, and tangelos are estimated at 700,000 boxes.
