The mango season is coming to a close in the Northern Territory of Australia, with yields this season disappointing, according to growers.

Fruit has fetched good prices during the campaign, but cold weather and frost slowed the fruit set of many orchards in the Top End.

Peter Sinott of Manbuloo Mangoes in Katherine told ABC Rural that it had been a poor end to the year for mangoes.

'I think we'd be somewhere around 40 per cent down `this year`,' he said. 'I think generally over the territory the season returns were fairly low, but the prices were good so there was compensation in the year.'
