Ilip TS range berries

Italian packaging specialist Ilip has revealed that it is focusing its attention on berries for the coming year, with the launch of a new punnet line and involvement in the leading European conference for the berry category.

In April, the group sponsored the Global Berry Congress in London, which drew some 240 delegates from 24 different countries to discuss some of the industry's most pressing topics. Ilip was present at the event with its own promotional materials and a delegation consisting of Mauro Stipa, Enrico Cristoni and Alberto Compagnoni, meeting the major players in the market and 'establishing close relationships useful for the development of the company's business'.

Meanwhile, the Bologna-based group has followed up manufacturing bespoke punnets with lids for berry leader Cooperativa Sant'Orsola, by launching its new TS range of thermosealed plastic punnets for soft fruits.

The range, which includes four shapes and different depths from 125g-1,000g of product, is designed to pack delicate berries in a sturdy, environmentally friendly pack made of at least 80 per cent recycled PET, which ultimately cuts greenhouse gas emission by two-thirds.

'Dealing with delicate products such as berries in packages designed to protect them and to transport them in safe conditions also means protecting the environment,' said spokesperson Robert Zanichelli. 'Fighting food waste is a fundamental ethical issue today and an important point in our scenario of social and corporate responsibility.'
