The US Apple Association has revealed that the volume of stored apples in the US is up 16 per cent on January 2014, currently standing at 113.5m bushels.

According to The Packer, this also represents growth of 26 per cent on the five-year average, with Washington state-grown apples accounting for just over 100m bushels of the total.

Stocks of all major varieties, including Red Delicious, Galas, Fujis, Granny Smiths and Golden Delicious, were up on last year, the Association reported.
