Landgard

Landgard has bolstered its fruit and veg division with the appointment of new regional manager Alexander Scot Matthew Bauer.

Bauer, 44, will be responsible for the development of business activities in south and south west Germany. He has extensive management experience, most recently as CEO of German fruit import business Andretta Fruchtimport.

Following training in wholesale and exports, Bauer did qualifications in quality management, audits and fruit trade and in 1999 he joined Lidl as division manager of international food purchasing.

After further senior positions in fresh produce he was made head of purchasing and sales at Stuttgart-based vegetable producer Gemüsering, before switching to Andretta Fruchtimport.

Landgard’s chairman Armin Rehburg commented: “With Alexander Bauer we will strengthen our business expertise in south and south west Germany in discount and food retail.”
