Rainforest Alliance seal

In a move to satisfy growing demand for earth friendly fresh fruit, Dayka & Hackett has announced it will exclusively roll out Rainforest Alliance-certified Chilean table grapes this month.

The first shipments are expected to be available from 15 January and should continue through early May, according to the company.

“Prompted by market demand to offer the best alternatives in sustainable agriculture we took an in depth evaluation of several programs available to our industry,” Tim Dayka of Dayka & Hackett said in a press release.

“In the final analysis we chose to work with the Rainforest Alliance. Their team was creative and systematic in its approach and after a lot of up-front leg work we were able to certify a group of five Chilean table grape growers from the north to the south of Chile providing grapes all season long.”

Dayka & Hackett’s marketing team worked closely with the Rainforest Alliance team and with Fresno-based Ball Design to develop new packaging to reflect the new certification, including a variety of pack styles. GS-1 random weight bags as well as a number of clam shells will be available with attractive graphics describing the special Rainforest Alliance certification.

“The Rainforest Alliance’s partnership with Dayka & Hackett is an example of for-profit and non-profit organizations working together in good faith,” explained Danner Friedman from the Rainforest Alliance. “It demonstrates that a progressive company can help improve the environment and worker conditions while bettering its bottom line.”
