Carrefour makes moves in Spain, Cyprus

Carrefour has begun construction on a new 43,000m² distribution centre at the port of Barcelona to serve its full and discount range operations, according to local press reports.

The move follows the completion of a distribution centre in Miranda y Ebro, part of the overhaul by Carrefour Dia of a number of its logistics operations.

Meanwhile, the group has opened a Carrefour Express store in Nicosia, part of a plan to have nine smaller stores in Cyprus by the end of the year.

Carrefour, which operates in the country through the Marinopoulos Group, has opened Express stores in residential areas with floor space between 1,200m² and 2,000m².
