ZBD e-paper displays

Italian hypermarket chain Iper Lando is trialling a new system of electronic point-of-sale displays in the fresh produce department of its Conselve store, near Venice in north-eastern Italy.

The e-paper for retail system, which makes use of EPOP (electronic point of purchase) displays, will be used to display product information including price and country of origin, the latter being now a legal requirement in Italy.

According to technology supplier ZBD, the system does not require any infrastructural investment prior to being introduced, making it simple to implement within the space of just a few weeks.

'We expect to make significant time and cost savings as a result of using EPOPs,' said Mr Benetollo, Lando’s IT manager. 'The solution is ideal for us to update provenance information, which we need to do frequently and quickly. We no longer need to print a new paper label and then replace the labels at the point of purchase.'
