Seatrade, the specialised reefer giant, today announced an order for two new specialised reefer vessels to add to the option for a fifth and sixth newbuilding that it made in May this year.

The vessels will be built at Kithanion shipyard in Japan with expecteddelivery between 2013 and early 2014 and will have a similar design as the first series of six, with a capacity of 650,000 cbft and a large container capacity.

In a press statement, Seatrade said it continues to seek opportunities to acquire additional vessels to its fleet, which has recently been demonstrated with the earlier reported purchase of the five Phoenix types, Atlantic and Pacific Reefer as well as the Maritime del Norte fleet.

It said that this latest transaction is part of Seatrade’s strategy to provide its customers with high quality and cost-effective refrigerated ships.
