The 21st Agro-Mashov international agricultural exhibition will be held on 2-3 March 2011 in Tel Aviv, Israel.
This year, the main theme of the exhibition will be technological solutions to the problems of global food and water shortages, according to the organisers.
“The water and food crisis, which is engulfing the world, is getting worse,” the organisers stated in a press release. “Already today there are millions of people suffering from hunger in the world. UN researchers are talking about the worsening of this crisis, which will result in suffering for many hundreds of millions more people. Moreover, according to forecasts, in 2025, two thirds of the world's population will suffer from a shortage of water.”
The organisers added that Israel’s proven technological capabilities in increasing agricultural output while using less water, in addition to its strategic position between Europe, Africa and Asia, made it the ideal site for the event.
