Fern Britton will present Grow, Make, Eat: The Great Allotment Challenge

A gardening contest in the style of The Great British Bake-Off is to air on BBC Two next year and will be presented by Fern Britton.

The show, Grow, Make, Eat: The Great Allotment Challenge, will feature nine pairs of amateur horticulturalists and test their skills in growing and processing.

One couple will be eliminated each week by horticulturalist Jim Buttress, floral expert Jonathan Moseley and preserves specialist Thane Prince.

The series will be filmed in a walled garden in Oxfordshire.

Each pair of contestants will have four months before the filmed challenges to harvest their crop.

Commissioning executive Emma Wills told The Daily Telegraph: 'This fantastic new series will tap into the wave of public interest in growing your own and home crafts from chutney making to floral arrangements.”
