Scotty Brand beetroot salad

Sweet and sour beetroot salad

Scotty Brand, an umbrella brand for premium seasonal Scottish produce has introduced three new salad pots to its collection.

The 250g salad pots are available in Asda stores in Scotland.

The flavours include:

- Scotty Brand Beetroot in sweet & sour sauce – a mix of cubed beetroot chunks with added sweet and sour sauce providing the perfect flavoursome combination.
- Scotty Brand Smokey BBQ Cheese Coleslaw – a mix of cabbage and carrot with cheese and spices.
- Scotty Brand Sweet Chilli & Cranberry Coleslaw - cabbage, carrot and cranberries with a variety of spices.

Michael Jarvis, head of marketing for Scotty Brand, said: “Although these salad pots are a new introduction to our portfolio this season, they really mark a return to our roots since this is how the brand began.”

The salad pots are prepared and packed by Scotia Produce, based in the Clyde Valley, Scotland, and are an addition to the two original salad pots of Scotty Brand Coleslaw and Scotty Brand Potato salad launched last year. Scotia Produce was established by the Adams family in Lanarkshire, who oversee the production process.

Jarvis added: “Our new salads pots are an ideal accompaniment to salads as well as most main dishes – and they are particularly perfect for summer barbeques. Many of Scotty Brand’s products are an easy convenient choice for our busy shoppers, especially mums, trying to juggle kids, home and job.

'They want to provide a proper nutritious meal but often lack the time for all the veg preparation. Scotty Brand’s logo gives them that reassurance of quality combined with a sensible price to help them make a quick and easy decision in their busy days.”

The Scotty Brand product portfolio also includes potatoes, carrots, lettuce, prepared vegetables, Ayrshire new potatoes, seasonal berries, bacon, burgers and soups.

The brand was first launched in 1948 by Albert Bartlett, a basket-weaver on Clyde-side who began boiling up beetroot in an old tin bath, selling it under the name Scotty Brand.
