Waitrose munchkin pumpkins

Waitrose customers made the most of Halloween falling on a Saturday, with total sales for the seasonal event up 28 per cent on last year.

The retailer's smaller munchkin pumpkins proved popular, with sales up by 36 per cent, while traditional carving pumpkins were also enjoyed by many Waitrose customers, with sales up by 10.5 per cent.

Also in the week ending 31 October 2015, sales of root veg were up by 6 per cent, sales of organic potatoes were up 22 per cent, and sweet potatoes sales were up by 37.4 per cent.
