Huntapac Produce has increased its pre-tax profit on a similar turnover to its previous financial year.
Produce sales turnover in the year to 30 June 2015 was £35.2 million, down from £35.7m, due to lower volumes, caused by a cut in customers’ own market share, and price pressures. Haulage contract sales were up by £800,000 to £6.3m.
Pre-tax profit was up from £1.2m to £4.1m, but £1.4m of this was an ‘exceptional item’.
Director Suzanne Harrison told FPJ: “Taking account of this exceptional item, we still had a good trading year due to favourable growing conditions, which produced above-average yields, but this year’s output is more in line with previous years.”
