RJ Herbert

Vegetable processing equipment specialist RJ Herbert Engineering has gone into administration.

The Cambridgeshire-based business called in administrators Deloitte on 14 July, with the company continuing to trade while its financial position is assessed.

Joint administrator Chris Farrington said that any orders placed by the company prior to Deloitte's appointment should not be delivered without written confirmation, and suppliers will be contacted regarding future orders.

He added that any parties interested in purchasing the business should get in touch.

According to accounts filed at Companies House, RJ Herbert Engineering had a turnover of £18.8m in the year to 31 March 2014, the latest figures available. However it posted a £167,184 loss in the period, down from an £825,266 profit the year before.

Directors warned in the report that the industry had experienced a decline in activity within traditional agricultural segments due to consolidation and a poor harvest.

'As a result activity levels have declined to a point where the company has incurred losses during the current financial year to date,' they said. 'This, combined with the late payment of a large debt, the majority of which has now been received, has led to short-term pressure on the business's cash flow.'

However additional funding was secured to continue to invest, they added.
