Spudsy

'Spudsey' was created with 580kg of potatoes from ten varieties

Move aside 'Mash Damon'; now we have 'Spudsey'. Albert Bartlett’s creative starches are flowing again after the potato firm commissioned its latest piece of potato art.

The portrait of Pudsey Bear, which was created for CarFest South in aid of Children in Need, is the latest work of food artist Prudence Straite from Food is Art.

It was created using 580kg of potatoes from ten varieties, including red Rooster and Purple Majesty and weighs the same as three Porsche Carreras.

Albert Bartlett is also donating 4,000kg of its Homestyle Rooster Chips to cook and sell at the festival, with 50p from every portion sold going to Children in Need.

CarFest South, which takes place this weekend (26-28 August) at Laverstock Park Farm in Hampshire, is not the first occasion for which Albert Bartlett has created a potato mosaic.

In February this year the company commissioned the same artist to do a potato portrait of Matt Damon to celebrate its sponsorship of Hollywood blockbuster The Martian.
