Amazon Fresh has expanded into Surrey and Hampshire to take the number of postcodes it services to 260.
This latest expansion, unveiled this week, means the company now delivers to towns in key commuter belt areas including Woking, Guildford and Basingstoke.
The news follows a report in this week’s Sunday Times that Amazon is ”searching for high street locations in central London”, prompting rumours of expansion into main estate retail. Amazon has declined to comment.
The company unveiled its first ‘Amazon Go’ store in Seattle at the end of last year, featuring its innovative check-out free and queue-less store concept.
Amazon Fresh launched in June 2016 to service 69 postcodes. One-hour delivery slots are available from 7am to 11pm, seven days a week.
Amazon Fresh vice president Ajay Kavan said: “We’ve received positive feedback since the service launched, and we will be working hard to make the service even better for our customers.”
