Time is running out to grab an early bird ticket for this summer’s German Fruit and Vegetable Congress (DOGK) in Düsseldorf.

Tickets for the two-day event organised by AMI, Fruitnet’s Fruchthandel Magazin and GS1 Germany, are priced at €595 if you register by 19 July, with the cost rising to £795 thereafter.

Returning on 20 and 21 September, the congress will focus on digitisation and online retail this time around, with talks on how online retail works in fresh produce; the importance of delivering freshness as an online retailer; quality control food scanners and sustainable packaging. A full program can be found on the DOGK website.

Up to 600 participants are expected at the conference on 21 September, which also includes a networking event sponsored by BVEO and Euro Pool System on the eve of the conference (20 September).

In the afternoon before the networking event delegates will be able to choose between one of two excursions – to the Markthalle Krefeld supermarket north of Düsseldorf, with its impressive fresh produce assortment, or a horticultural test centre in Cologne called the Versuchszentrum Gartenbau Straelen/Köln-Auweiler.

An important centre for hortiultural trials, the centre’s main focus is on protected berry cultivation, and its aim is to improve the profitability and environmental compatibility of fruit production.
