The California Department of Food and Agriculture has announced the continuation of the California Dried Plum Board following its mandatory five-year review required under the Marketing Order for Dried Plums.

The board will continue to engage in promotions of California dried plums domestically and overseas, as well as market research, nutritional research and grower efficiency research, and continue its work developing trade policy in the US and internationally.

The decision to continue the California Dried Plum Board’s activities was announced following an analysis of testimonials from the state’s growers and processors at a public hearing in Sacramento on 10 March.

The Dried Plum Board was established in 1980, representing the California’s growers and processors, with an annual budget of just under US$7m.
