Container opening marks to launch of the Peruvian blueberry season in China

On 10 July, the season’s first container of Alpine Fresh Peruvian blueberries, imported by Jiaxing Higo, was officially opened at the Jiaxing Haiguangxing Market, marking the launch of the 2026 Peruvian blueberry supply to China.

The arrival consisted of the main early-season Peruvian variety, Sekoya Pop, totalling a full container of 21 pallets with a size specification of Jumbo 20mm+.

According to Higo, the opening price for this shipment was set at Rmb 230 (US$33.86) per tray (1.5kg). The container opened at 9am that day and was entirely sold out within a single hour, laying a solid foundation for the season’s sales.

During the early stages of this Peruvian blueberry season, the majority of exporters in Peru adopted a conservative “wait-and-see” approach for China, prioritising the diversion of supplies to markets such as Europe and the US. Alpine has, however, bucked this trend to heavily invest in the Chinese market, delivering the core supply of this season’s first container in China to Jiaxing Higo.

Leveraging its mature operational capabilities in the imported blueberry sector, extensive channel network, and strong spot-market turnover strength, Jiaxing Higo has emerged as a key partner for Alpine in successfully landing these scarce early-season supplies in the Chinese market.

The landing of Alpine’s first container with Jiaxing Higo has set a market tone of a strong opening and steady performance for this season’s Peruvian blueberries. Higo believes that under the multiple favourable conditions of tight global supply, expanding domestic demand, and varietal upgrades, combined with the advantages of both parties’ channels and supply chains, the 2026 Peruvian blueberry season is poised to maintain a firm market position and continuously release market dividends.

Higo anticipates that the next shipment of Peruvian blueberries will arrive at the Port of Shanghai on 19 July.
